Putting Higher Education to Work: Skills and Research for Growth in East Asia

World Bank

This publication argues that East Asia’s higher education systems are failing to deliver the necessary skills and development to sustain productivity and economic growth. It delves into the steps that institutions must take to deliver more relevant labor market skills to university students.

East Asian economies, especially the low and middle-income ones, are facing the challenge of sustaining and accelerating the growth that they have achieved in recent decades. Due to demographic changes and aging populations, they must rely on improvements in productivity to drive growth. This publication spotlights the role higher education systems can play in this effort. Read it here: English, Thai.
