Husodo Angkosubroto is Chairman of Gunung Sewu Group, a second-generation Indonesian-based family business. Mr. Angkosubroto currently leads the transformation journey of the Group with a vision to professionalize the organization while maintaining its entrepreneurial spirit, values and historic legacy inherited from his late father, who founded the company in 1953.
Mr. Angkosubroto earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Since 1991, he has been a member of YPO, which he chaired between 2005 and 2006. As a founder and board member of Endeavor Indonesia—a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York—he actively mentors high-impact entrepreneurs. In 2016, he led the establishment of Jakarta Property Institute with a mission to make Jakarta a more livable city.
Gunung Sewu Group holdings in diversified sectors but maintains its focus on insurance, food and real estate. The Group’s insurance arm Sequis is the largest privately owned life insurance company in Indonesia and ranks among the top 10 in the industry. In addition to offering traditional life insurance products and unit links, Sequis also runs an asset management unit under its portfolio. Great Giant Foods operates a food business that covers the food supply chain end-to-end including the world’s largest fully integrated pineapple plantations and processing plants; the largest Cavendish banana plantation and the second largest cattle feedlot in Indonesia; and a fresh fruit distributor which brings produce to the Indonesian consumers.
In 2015, Great Giant Foods acquired Sierad Produce, an integrated poultry-based foods company. In the real estate, Farpoint manages several landmark buildings and develops residential, office and mixed-used projects mainly in Jakarta. The company successfully launched Verde, the first luxurious resort apartment concept in the city. Other businesses include a brown shoe manufacturer, a porcelain tableware company and the largest gummy bear producer in Southeast Asia.
